2016 Simrad Snapper Classic Results, story and pictures

Sunday the 31st July 2016 was an amazing day! The weather was ideal and the hype was high. There were 35 teams that entered the Simrad Snapper Classic, registration was done and dusted in 25 minutes. The briefing was held at 5.25 am. The rules of the comp were outlined and our sponsors thanked. It was then Snapper time with competitors heading out the Seaway to go find the big ones. 2016 Wilson Easter Mackerel Classic – Results and Story

 Team Mad Hueys Fishing (Steve Ward, Ben Job and Mat Paterson) have taken out the inaugural Wilson Fishing Easter Mackerel Classic held on Good Friday. A total of 23 teams too off in perfect conditions to see if they could and 3 Mackerel for the day. The mad Huey guys headed to Diamond Reef and located fish feeding deep on bait schools and targeted the fish using downriggers to great effect. IMPORTANT INFORMATION For everyone fishing the Mangrove Jack competition tomorrow: Due to the forecast strong winds tomorrow and safety concerns around boats travelling through the Broadwater there will now be 2 launch sites. Brett Horner will take registrations and brief from the Paradise Point Boat Ramp from 4.00am. Craig Templar will take registrations at the VMR Base next to SeaWorld from 4.00am. The northern boundary will be the Coomera River so as to keep open The Coomera River and Sovereign Island areas. Gamesmaster Report for January 2016

There were some fantastic captures by club members over the Christmas break with quite a few entries into the monthly competitions. Jason Heller took out the inshore competition with a combined length of Whiting, Bream and Pike measuring 115cm, taking home the $100 voucher. The offshore species was mackerel and Jason’s effort of 125cm proved to be the best. The Fish of the Month was won by Paul Tamis daughter Molly who landed a 69cm Flatty on South Straddie recently, which almost pulled the rod into the water. 2015 Dash For Cash Flathead Results and Story

The 2015 Dash for Cash Flathead one day shootout was conducted yesterday in trying conditions, with 26 teams heading out in search of their best 5 flathead to try and take home the cash booty on offer. The overcast and windy weather did not deter anglers form heading north to the Jumpinpin area in search of the “big fish” that have been holding in the deep the past few months. Mates4Mates is an organisation dedicated to supporting the wounded, injured and ill current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. They deserve support as they continue the journey of rebuilding their lives. Many have physical and psychological injuries as a result of their service within the ADF. To provide support to this outstanding organisation the Gold Coast Sport Fishing Club will conduct  “Take a mate” fishing day.
