2015 Dash For Cash Flathead Results and Story

The 2015 Dash for Cash Flathead one day shootout was conducted yesterday in trying conditions, with 26 teams heading out in search of their best 5 flathead to try and take home the cash booty on offer. The overcast and windy weather did not deter anglers form heading north to the Jumpinpin area in search of the “big fish” that have been holding in the deep the past few months.

In the end it was the team from Wilson Fishing who prevailed, amassing a total length of 373cm for their 5 fish. The bag was anchored by the events “big fish” of 95cm caught by Kord Luckus and backed up by a 92cm specimen which ensured victory would not be denied. The team comprising former classic winner Robbie Payne and his wife Leanne along with Kord headed to the Pin early to fish deep. They started well but left to fish an area they know well and “trolled the life out of it”. It proved to b the winning decision with both big fish coming on the troll in the shallows. The trio were ecstatic with the win.

In second place with 335cm was team Mongmo comprising Luke Geale, Tim Stevenson and Shaun Lee. The boys headed straight for the Pin and fished deep all day with the majority of their fish coming in an early bite.

Rounding out the podium were the Bankrobbers (333 cm), Paul Tamis and Brendon Knight erased the disappointment of last years event where mechanical failure ruled them out of the event before they even left the start line.

A huge thankyou to Sue Belmont, Brett Horner and Aykut Ahmet for their assistance in running the event and to the VMR for allowing the use of their venue.

The full results are below, except for the team that failed to put their team name on the score sheet.
