Team Composition
Each team must consist of at least two persons and no more than three persons.
Junior teams are allowed, provided they adhere to Queensland maritime regulations.
Approval for Additional Persons
Individuals apart from fully paid entrants on a vessel must obtain approval from the Tournament Committee.
Any form of assistance to anglers by individuals who are not fully paid entrants may result in team disqualification for the day or the entire tournament.

The competition strictly follows catch-and-release principles.
All fish caught must be released alive.

Only artificial lures or flies are permitted.
The use of dead bait or live bait is prohibited.

Flathead Size Eligibility
Flatheads of any size are eligible for submission for points.
All team members must fish from the same boat.
Trolling is permitted.
Each angler may only use one rod at a time.
Anglers are responsible for setting, casting, attending and retrieving their own rods.
Any unequal fishing practices may result in disqualification.
Protests must be lodged with the Tournament Committee or Marshals on the day of the incident.
The committee’s decisions regarding rules and prizes are final.

Fish-friendly nets are recommended.
Line Class and Type
The tournament is open to all line classes and types.
Fishing Boundaries
Boundaries extend from Russell Island’s overhead power lines to the Pacific Highway Bridge at Nerang, excluding government-gazetted closed areas.
Exclusion zones within these boundaries must be observed.
All green zones are strictly adhered to.
Competitors fish in these areas at the peril of the authorities.
It is every boater’s responsibility to know the green zone boundaries.
All anglers must fish within the stated tournament boundaries.
This means that even if the boat is within the boundary, casting or drifting beyond the boundary is not permitted while lines are in the water.
Remember, a boundary can look different from different perspectives and distances. Only if you are in line with the boundary yourself is it easy to see if someone is in or out of the boundary line.
Shore Fishing Regulations
Team members fishing from shore must maintain a line of sight with each other.
Boat Usage
All team members must fish from the same boat.
Multiple teams fishing from one boat are permissible, with the prior permission of the organising committee.
When fishing in shallow water, please keep a cast away from the nearest boat, which is approximately 30 metres away.
Be careful not to drop in on someone’s drift.
If another boat is already drifting towards the bank, you should come in behind them rather than dropping in front of them.
If you are motoring against the current, whether using an electric motor or the main motor, you must give way to boats drifting with the current.
Maximum Rods in Use
Each angler may use only one rod at a time.
Equal fishing opportunities are expected among team members.
Protest Procedure
Protests must be reported to the Tournament Committee or Marshals before 5pm on the day of the incident.
