Winter Action Heats Up at the Gold Coast Sportfishing Club
As winter rolls in, the Gold Coast Sportfishing Club is gearing up for one of the biggest mid-year line-ups we’ve seen in a while—with competitions, community events, and new initiatives ready to roll.
First up, the Atomic Bream Tournament kicks off in early June, giving anglers a great chance to enjoy some friendly rivalry and reel in top prizes. Shortly after, attention turns to the highly anticipated Wilson Elite Flathead Series – Round 1. With strong interest already, it's shaping up to be an exciting and competitive event. Competitors are encouraged to get tournament-ready and join us at the June Club Night on Thursday 12th June, for expert tips and local insights from Wilson representatives, Robby and Scotty.
July is all about community connection, with the return of our Fishing Tackle Auction Night on Thursday 10th July. This crowd-favourite event is a great chance to pick up quality gear at bargain prices, enjoy a BBQ, and support the club.
In line with this, we’re encouraging members to bring along any spare or pre-loved fishing gear to donate on the night. These donations will go directly to the kids participating in our Kids Fishing Clinic on Sunday 13th July. This initiative is designed to help foster the next generation of anglers by putting real gear in their hands, providing hands-on learning, and creating a memorable, encouraging experience. It’s a small way we can give back, and show what the GCSFC community is truly about.
We’re also excited to announce the upcoming launch of our new membership program in July. With committee member Bo leading our membership drive, this new program will aim to deliver better value and a stronger sense of community for all members—new and returning.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to all of our club sponsors and volunteers who continue to support our events, programs, and growth. Your contributions make all the difference.
Tight lines,
Danny Sands
President, Gold Coast Sportfishing Club
