The 2026 Simrad and Shimano Snapper Classic is back on Sunday 16 August with more than $10,000 in prizes up for grabs.
Fishing runs from 6 am to 2 pm, with teams of two or three anglers fishing between the tip of North Stradbroke Island and the Queensland and New South Wales border. Teams may launch from anywhere within the competition boundaries, but no lines may be in the water before 6 am.
Competitors will photograph and measure their three biggest snapper on an official Liquor Legends brag mat using the codeword announced at the online briefing. Photos must be posted to the Gold Coast Sports Fishing Club Community Group. The lengths of each team’s three biggest snapper must be texted to Games Master Jason Swain before 2.30 pm for verification.
Awesome Shimano rods and reels will be awarded for first, second and third place, as well as the biggest senior snapper and biggest junior snapper. A random draw prize of a Simrad 12 inch sounder will be drawn at the September Club Night. Entrants must be present to win.
The team briefing will be held online via the Gold Coast Sports Fishing Club facebook page at 6pm on Friday, 14th August. The codeword will be announced during the briefing.
The presentation will be held online at 6 pm on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded at the September club night.
Tight lines and good luck to all entrants!
