Shimano Mackerel Classic - Junior (Non-Member)

Fishing Time: 5am until 1pm

Target Species: Mackerel

Entry Fee: $60 per angler for Junior non-members

Team Size: 2 or 3 anglers

Registrations close: Thursday 19 March at 12:00pm

Briefing: Saturday 21 March 2026 at 6:00pm (via Facebook)

Scoring: Three (3) biggest fish per team (combined length). Each bag must include one Spotted Mackerel. Extra prizes for rogue species Wahoo. Please note Wahoo not include for scoring.

Fishing Methods:

  • Lures (casting & trolling permitted).

  • Bait (burley permitted).

  • Maximum of four rods in the water, per team.

Measuring & Submissions:

  • Fish must be measured on official Liquor Legends Bragmat.

  • Nose on zero to fork of tail.

  • Token must be visible in all photos.

  • No angled pictures - all pictures to be taken directly above the centre of the fish on the mat. Please take your time to get a good pic. Blurry, unfocussed and angled pictures will not be accepted.

  • Prize for best happy snap (not measuring submission) posted to our GCSFC Community Facebook Page.

  • Pictures of top three fish (including a spotty) to be sent to Jason on 0414 535 792 after 1pm, but before 1.30pm on 22 March 2026.

Fishing Boundaries and Rules for Prizes:

  • Fishing is in Queensland waters, but all anglers must be back at the Gold Coast Sports Fishing Clubhouse for presentations to qualify for prizes (no exceptions).

  • Presentation will be at 2pm on 22 March 2026.

Prizes:

  • Total pool of $4850 of prizes from Shimano.

  • 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place

  • Biggest Mackerel

  • Biggest Mackerel (Junior)

  • Best event happy snap posted to Gold Coast Sports Fishing Club Community Facebook Page (as voted by community/club members at presentation).
