Future Anglers Shine at Gold Coast Kids Fishing Clinic

The Gold Coast Sport Fishing Club was buzzing with excitement over the weekend as 30 young anglers gathered at the Clubhouse for a hands-on Kids Fishing Clinic, proudly supported by Doug Burts Tackle World Gold Coast, Rapala, The Mad Hueys, Berkely and Wilson Fishing.

Held during the school holidays, the event delivered an unforgettable afternoon packed with learning, laughter, and outdoor fun. Designed to introduce children to the basics of fishing in a safe and supportive environment, the clinic featured three interactive stations: knot tying, casting practice, and gear chat & Q&A.

Each child received a BBQ lunch, a take-home starter gear pack, and a confidence boost as they rotated through the activity stations led by passionate club members and volunteers.

“It was great to see so many kids having a go and learning new skills,” said event coordinator Kadee Folker. “Fishing is a lifelong passion for many of us, and it’s events like these that help pass that on to the next generation.”

Parents and guardians were invited to stay on site, enjoy the afternoon, and see their kids grow in skill and spirit. Many commented on how professional and engaging the clinic was, with several asking when the next session would be.
